Autobiography

Hello! I am Francisco, I live in Heredia. I study computer engineering in ULACIT I chose this career because in the past, actually, when I went to high school I studied computing. In that moment I learned different things like: How to fix one computer, how works it and also I learned some things about different devices like printers, routers, telephones. Now in the University I am studying other fields of computing for example: right now I am working on a project to develop a network with some special requests, and in other class I am learning to develop software.

These are some things about my studies. About myself, I can tell I am a hardworking person when i do something, always; I try to do in the best way. If I have to work with other people is not a problem for me because I am a good listener and I always establish good relationship with people. With teachers I try to pay attention during the class but after that, I like to talk with them because they can teach you very important things about specific topic, they have more knowledge than you and obviously you have the opportunity of learn of them

Talking about knowledge and learn new things the last week I learned like the use of articles for example you can use the article when mentions: national groups, titles, musical instruments, geographical names (rivers, oceans, compass points).

Also I learned some vocabulary:

·         Catch on:  To become popular.

·         Aloof: Distant physically or emotionally.

·         Tireless: indefatigable.

·         Trespass: To infringe on the privacy.

Technology

The human instinct of exploring is amazing, because for this instinct we have found many inventions that make our lives more easily, also it helps to develop technologies. Technology helps in many areas, for example with it we have found the cure for many diseases. In the industrial area technology give us many advantages like doing a specific process in less time or why not, make it more effective. Actually technology is present even in sports, in the last FIFA World Cup the referees used a kind of headset to communicate with each. Those are only a little bit of examples of how technology gives us many advantages.

            We live in constant communication and for this reason one of the most important invention is email. Email was created in 1971 by Ray Tomlinson. When Tomlinson created the email the main network was ARPANET, (actually the mother of internet) and he created it to send messages inside that network. Now people who in different counties can make a kind of conversation without being in the same place. Companies use email like the main means of communication, one important aspect is that email helps to prevent pollution because you don’t have to use paper anymore. But obviously email needs an internet connection.

            Internet began like a simple investigation project in the United States but ends as the biggest network around the world. Through it we can see some videos in YouTube, search for information in Google or meet new people in Social Networks. Internet was developed in 1972.

To use all those inventions we need a computer or laptop. We use that in many places, the first laptop was launch in April, 1981 and its name was Osborne 1. His creator was Adam Osborne, the main characteristics of it was his weight 22 pounds, 32 years later laptops are more lightweight and obviously it has more capacity. Cellphones were created in Japan around 1979, those cellphones were bigger and only made calls, now it can send messages and share pictures, music, photos, and other files.

            Another important inventions can be: microwave it was created in 1946 by Percy Spencer, but until 1970 it caught on. Microwave changed the way of cooking meal, it gives us comfort and helps us to spend time in other activities by that reason microwave is one of the favorite appliances at home. Global Positioning System is a technology developed in 70s by the army of US. Ivan getting was the engineer who founded that technology. It gives the exact latitude and longitude by their connection with satellites. Actually GPS is in cars, trucks, airplanes and cell phones.

The next invention is related to music because all people love to listen to music which they are doing something, for that reason for me the Ipod is one of the most important inventions. When Steve Jobs did the presentation of it he said, “Listening to music will never be the same”.Ipod lets you save your favorite music and use it in any moment that you want.
